July 20, 2006
(Strasbourg, France)- This week, Chief Counsel of the European Centre for Law and Justice Jay Sekulow welcomed as his guests on Jay Sekulow Live! two prominent European leaders to speak on the current crisis involving Israel and Hezbollah. On Tuesday the Vice-Chairperson of the European Parliamentary Committee on Relations with Israel Bas Belder spoke about the need to have solidarity with Israel as they combat the threat of terrorism and Hezbollah aggression. Mr. Belder, a two-term European Parliament Member and first ever chair-person of the Parliamentary Committee on Relations with the United States, told listeners that there are Europeans who wish to see an end to aggression against Israel and that he has constantly defended the position of Israel to the European Parliament and Commission.
On Wednesday Jay welcomed former deputy Prime-Minister and Justice Minister of the Slovak Republic Daniel Lipsic to the show. Mr. Lipsic, well known in Europe for his successful anti-corruption policies as Justice Minister and as staunch supporter of traditional family values as part of the European Union Counsel of Ministers, spoke of his disappointment with Europe’s lack of action. He explained his view that European’s, who have enjoyed peace for sixty years, have become lazy and relativistic on the topic of terrorism. Mr. Lipsic defended Israel’s right to self-defence as a nation under constant threat from jihadist terrorists.
