Regent University and ECLJ Welcome Special Guests
July 19, 2006
(Strasbourg, France)- Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the European Centre for Law and Justice, and Regent University jointly held a reception for the Regent University summer law program at the offices of the European Centre for Law and Justice Wednesday. The forty law students, representing Regent and several other law schools including five students from Handong Global University in Korea, were privileged to hear from many special guests including former Attorney General of the United States John Ashcroft, his Slovak counterpart and former deputy Prime-Minister of the Slovak Republic Daniel Lipsic and one of the key figures behind the creation and administration of the European Court of Human Rights Hans-Christian Krueger.
The students, who are receiving lectures during the 5 week program from John Ashcroft on National Security, had the opportunity to hear about anti-corruption matters from General Ashcroft’s Slovakian counter-part Justice Minister Daniel Lipsic. Mr. Lipsic told students that as lawyers, they will be faced with many difficult decisions in their lives but that it takes character and courage to not take the easy route. He encouraged the students to use their talents in the fight for morality and Christian values and to live their faiths.
The students also enjoyed a very informative history of the European Court of Human Rights from one of the Court’s architects and current administrator’s Hans-Christian Krueger.
